New Album «Emotional Bros Hotline» – Ura Star & Fireball Kid

We wrote “Homesick/Heartsick” when we were simultaneously hitting different types of crossroads that connected us to different types of longing.

Ura Star was living through the first summer of lockdown in Montreal, five years after initially moving to the city and on the precipice of returning home to Saint John, New Brunswick indefinitely with his partner. It was on the cusp of this life-changing mid-20s move that he found himself reminiscing on the relationship.

In contrast, Fireball Kid had just returned from a month visiting their shared hometown, having reconnected with decades worth of old friends, familiar locations, and affiliated memories. In this time he had fallen a little bit in love (by accident) during a fling and had to end things on friendly terms upon returning to Montreal.

Ultimately our life events at the time mirrored one another, and as such we thematically ended up with a song about the feeling of returning home while reflecting on what’s happened in your life; versus the feeling of leaving home enthralled by, and anxious for, what might happen next.

Hope you enjoy 😊
