En honor al 60ª aniversario de la lista Billboard’s Hot 100, la compañía emitió sus 100 canciones más populares de todos los tiempos entre los éxitos #1 en las últimas 6 décadas.
La listaa fue creada por tres empleados de Billboard, con la ayuda del productor Mark Ronson y la exitosa compositora Diane Warren.
Según Billboard, esta fue la metodología para la selección:
«La clasificación más grande de todos los tiempos del 60º aniversario de Billboard Hot 100 Songs and Artists se basa en el rendimiento semanal en el Hot 100 (desde su inicio el 4 de agosto de 1958 hasta el 21 de julio de 2018).
Las canciones se clasifican según un sistema de puntos inverso, con semanas en el número 1 que obtienen el mayor valor y semanas en los lugares más bajos en las que ganan menos.
Debido a los cambios en la metodología del cuadro a lo largo de los años, las eras se ponderan de forma diferente para tener en cuenta las tasas de rotación de la lista durante varios períodos.
Los artistas se clasifican en función de un rendimiento de combinación de fórmulas, como se describió anteriormente, de todas sus entradas en la tabla Hot 100″.
Lo tenemos, las canciones se ponderan de forma diferente según la época en que se lanzaron y cuánto tiempo permanecieron en las listas.
